People have always had convoluted reasons for getting married. Actually, financial stability is a better reason than some and pretty common. Yes, all too often, the poor (comparatively, we are talking about Americans) American is deluded into marrying someone who’s only interested in getting the green card and the Yankee dollar. Sometimes, no one is deluded and it’s more a question of mutual advantage, you pay, you stay. And no doubt, sometimes foreigners are used by their American spouses. Just as sometimes men use women, and sometimes women use men. It’s not hard to imagine that there’s more of the first example than the third, but you can be sure, there are lots of people in the middle.
So, what? Whoever said Americans are beyond temptation?

Ha Ha. How jaded are you. So in your expert opinion, the millions of illegals are being “used” by us. The rich greedy Americans. Why can’t you see that Americans are the ones being “used”. Grow up.

Never more than they use us. And you’re very wrong. Most people do not think LEGAL immigrants marry citizens to become Americans. We know there is a right way, and a wrong way to become a citizen of the USA. The problem with some immigrants, is they don’t want to do it the right way, which is to abide by American law, and go through a process. We welcome new immigrants, as doing such helps the country, but we will not support illegals. Please do not speak for “most” Americans and what they think, because you don’t know what you’re talking about, and you send a wrong message to those who are curious.

it happens everywhere but it is far more common for foreigners to pay to marry americans and it is illegal.
if both sides are dumb enough both ought to get punished.
if the other side has no complaints then no laws have been broken.
